BECOME A SUPPORTER OF OUR SCHOLARSHIP FUND FOR KYAITHANI and LOWER YATTA SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN NDANDINI KENYA
In 2011 we started providing scholarships for the 9 top achievers at the only secondary school in the Ndandini area. In 2023 we have now increased that to 106 at Kyaithani and Lower Yatta Secondary Schools. There are over 400 desperately poor students at Kyaithani and Lower Yatta Secondary Schools striving to get an education so they can better their lives. Can you help us increase the number of scholarships that we provide?
We provide a CAD$110 per year scholarship to the students attending secondary school full time who originally graduated from one of the six primary schools in the Kyaithani area. We are looking for donations in any amount.
Donors to the scholarships will be able to follow our progress on this blogspot as we post information about the children being sponsored, photos and letters.
100% of the donations received go to the students and the Board of Governors accounts to us for the funds. There are no deductions for fundraising or administration.
Like the students and their parents, we know that without an education there is little hope for them to make a better life for themselves.

Unlike in Canada, families in Kenya have to pay school fees in order for their children to attend high school. Many children are forced to drop out because, with family incomes of less than $1/day, their families cannot afford to pay the school costs.

Donations in any amount will receive a tax receipt (for Canadian income tax returns).

Great results from scholarship program last year! Thanks for your help.

Our donors have again been most generous during 2012.  Thank you everyone so much.  Here is some information - and pat yourselves on the back for being part of a very rewarding humanitarian effort in Ndandini and Kyaithani Kenya.

Let me share an email (below) which I received from the principal of Kyaithani Secondary School.  It shows the gratitude of the students, teachers and villagers as well as outlining the latest examination results and the effect that the scholarship program is having on motivating improved academic achievement and school enrollment.

I am also very happy to be able to announce that because of your very generous support we will be able to increase the number of scholarships for 2013 to 23 (from 16 last year).  All of these scholarships are fully funded - meaning that we have adequate money set aside to provide the recipient with scholarships for each remaining year of their secondary schooling as long as they continue to show academic achievement in their examination results.

Once again, thanks for your support of our work in the Ndandini and Kyaithani village area.

Jambo Donors.

The Kyaithani High School community is grateful to God for His provisions, mercies and care upon us. We are also grateful to the donors and the community for the impressive results posted by the school's students this past year. It was not an easy task, but a product of self Discipline, Industry and Prayers.

Our Form 4 students have made us proud by doing so well in the National examinations. Five students (3 boys and 2 girls) attained the minimum qualifications for University education. These top five tudents were beneficiaries of the sponsorship program (John Mbithi, Felistus Nguli, Kevin Musembi, David Kitheka and Ann Muoki).
This good academic performance would not have been possible without the invaluable and generous contributions of the donors. The tractor that delivers the portable water from the well to the tank in school, the solar lighting, the sponsorship program, the TV/DVD sets, the digital camera, the one-day outing for the whole school to Nairobi last September, the internet-enabled computers that enhance communication and typesetting of examinations, the regular visits by the donors are the best actions that have shaped Kyaithani High School community. I sincerely pray that God gives the donors good health to keep on giving hope to the less fortunate members of humanity.
We are happy to report that the Form 4 students for this year are already settled and have been 'boarding' in school since the start of the year with the aim of keeping up/ improving on the good performance. The sponsorship program has given rise to a culture of healthy competition which is reflected in the term one examination results this year in all the classes.
Warm regards to all the donors from the Students and Teachers.
